“Smart” Fashion

One of the most recent tendencies that we have seen comes in the form of so-called “smart” clothing. In particular, those who lead active lifestyles will find this quite interesting. Modern fitness clothing incorporates a technology that is meant to wick sweat away from the body. This will help to keep one’s temperature down during any high-intensity exercise routine. Although used by law enforcement agencies for a number of years, this type of clothing has already made its mark in the fitness industry. We should expect this to continue during the coming summer months.

Lycra is King (Again)

Lycra running and bicycling shorts have seemingly made a comeback since their departure in the latter half of the 1980s. Interestingly enough, this trend appears to be gaining momentum with those in their thirties and forties. Used as a comfortable alternative to traditional sweatpants and sweatshirts when exercising, a growing number of fitness buffs will be seen donning brightly colored Lycra and spandex this summer. While considered by many to have been a rather dead fashion line, nothing could be further from the truth.

The Loose-Fitting Choice

On the other side of the spectrum, a growing number of fitness gurus have abandoned their form-fitting preferences for more flowing and comfortable attire. This is seen to help provide air to the skin while protecting it from the ultraviolet rays of the sun. Many brand names are already marketing such clothing with the intention of capturing the market this summer and if fashion analysts are correct, we may also see a resurgence in this type of fitness wear.

Perennially Pastel

Lightly colored clothing has always been extremely desirable during the summer and we should expect more of the same this year. As pastels seem to have gained popularity during the last few seasons, it only stands to reason that these soft hues will remain popular in the fitness world. They signal a sense of vibrancy and movement; hopefully providing the wearer with the same momentum.

These are some of the most prevalent fashion trends in the fitness industry this summer. It will be interesting to see how much of a lasting impact they will have.
